Most properties in this price range ask you to choose: the house, or the ground. This one does not make you choose. The home was built in 2005 and was not built to a budget: about 4,970 square feet, five bedrooms, three and a half baths, a main floor master, two bedrooms up and two in the finished lower level. The two lower-level bedrooms are non-conforming, though the lower level has two exterior entrances and a large picture window. The first floor got new mesquite hardwood, fresh paint and new blinds in 2023. The kitchen carries Jenn Air, Fisher & Paykel dish drawers and an LG refrigerator. The mechanicals set it apart. The home and the 46x64 shop both run on in-floor heat, both boilers were replaced three to five years ago, and a new air conditioner and air exchanger went in this summer. That is about 7,900 square feet of living and shop space on in-floor heat, a real operating advantage here in February. One of the two ponds sits in view of the home, so the view from the main living space is the wooded back entertaining yard, not a road or a neighboring roofline. The shop is what separates this from everything else nearby: a one-bedroom, one-bath apartment with its own entrance, a golf simulator room, climbing wall, basketball hoop, indoor-outdoor dog kennel, covered porch and 12-foot lean-to. The apartment works as guest quarters or a hunting camp bunkhouse without giving up the main house. The ground is all timber, rolling Blue Hills terrain, with maintained trails cut and seven deer stands hung. The owners have worked it for fifteen years. Two ponds hold water and pull wildlife through, and the trail network means a new owner can hunt it the first fall. The timber is not enrolled in Managed Forest Law, so a buyer can manage, harvest or enroll on their own terms. Perennial landscaping and a raised garden surround the buildings, all at the end of a gravel road. Rice Lake is a short drive; Christie Mountain is fifteen to twenty minutes out for skiing.
From Rice Lake, go East on County Road C for 6.5 miles. Take a right onto Dead End Road, which is 26th St. Go 1.2 miles and continue past the fire number and the driveway will take you up and to the left towards the shed and home.
